Fr. Bart's passion is preaching the WORD and"Giving the Gospel a Voice Today."
Fr. Bart was born in the small town of Church Point Louisiana where his family still resides. He began his studies for the priesthood at the age of 14 at Divine Word High School Seminary, St. Meinrad Seminary College and St. Benedict College Seminary.
After seminary, he entered St. Bernard Abbey in Cullman, Alabama and professed vows as a Benedictine Monk. As a young Monk, he continued his theological studies at St. Vincent Archabbey and discerned a call to the apostolic life and preaching apostolate.
In 2001, Fr. Bart entered the Paulist Fathers novitiate and completed his studies in theology at The Washington Theological Union and The Catholic University of America. Fr. Bart was ordained to the priesthood in 2007 in New York City.
He has served at parishes in Chicago and San Francisco along with offering spiritual direction, parish missions, days of recollection and retreats. Currently, he serves as a consultor on the General Council (Governing Body) of his community, coordinator for Black Catholic Ministry in the Diocese of Sacramento in California and also full-time preaching apostolate in the Paulist community.
Friends, today’s Gospel tells the story of the rich man and the poor man, Lazarus, at his gate. God is not pleased with this kind of economic inequality, and he burns with passion to set things right.
