Fr. Keith Koehl was born in LaGrange, Texas, where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and La Grange High School. He attended Blinn College in Brenham and then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in music education and was a member of the Longhorn Band. After teaching band in public schools for three years, he entered the seminary at Holy Trinity in Irving. His seminary studies were completed at St. Mary's in Houston.
He was ordained by Bishop John McCarthy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in LaGrange on May 24, 1997. Fr. Keith was an associate pastor here at St. Thomas More followed by St. Mary Catholic Center in College Station. Then, he was assigned to St. Patrick in Hutto as the pastor, followed by an assignment at Holy Trinity Seminary as the vice rector. St. Mary of the Assumption in Taylor was his most recent assignment prior to his return to St. Thomas More as the pastor.
Fr. Keith is dean of the North Austin Deanery and assists the Institute for Priestly Formation as a spiritual director for seminarians during their retreat at the Summer Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. His hobbies include doing yard work, traveling and experiencing God's creation in nature, especially the majestic mountains of Alaska
